Six years ago I started an IG hashtag - #artoveralgorithm.
As Taylor would say, I’m so ahead of the curve, the curve became a sphere!
It felt so on the money at the time. I was almost seven years deep into a social media platform I loved and I could feel the shift happening. Turns out whatever I thought I knew, it was only the beginning.
IG has been a constant for many of us. I know so many people (me included!) who have founded beloved communities and friendships there, not to mention wonderful clients and opportunities. Deep and true connection points plotted in our stories. That space has come to mean something, and when things are meaningful it can be hard to watch them change.
But change is inevitable! These days, being on IG can feel like shouting into a void, or like watching tumbleweed wafting through a gallery of things you created with thought and love. Even if you don’t want to grow an audience, being able to share with your established following can feel like pushing a rock up the hill of the goddamn algorithm.
Over the past few weeks I’ve seen so many threads of despair from artists feeling the same.

We couldn’t help but wonder, is Instagram….DEAD?
Join us for the next (slightly tongue in cheek and definitely playful) Artful Conversation as we talk about how to:
Reframe Instagram to keep the bits we love and ditch the rest
Redirect time & energy back to creativity
Curate an artful life beyond the ‘gram
Let’s make Instagram fun again!
We would love you to join us on August 5:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada) and we might even have a special surprise in store… (and if you sign up but the time zone doesn’t work, you’ll be sent the recording afterwards!)
Instagram might be dead, but long live the artists!
